The Engine Room: Volume 4

February 2026

Thank you for your continued interest in Mac Motorcycles, and your patience whilst we get everything ready for launch – we genuinely appreciate it.

HQ Update:

The cold weather has slowed some of work outside, but we’ve been able to continue to make progress inside – insulation is now complete and pointing the 30m long stone wall is about 50% complete.

Many people have said it would have been easier to find a unit on an industrial estate, but it wouldn’t feel like home the way our old barn does. It was built as part of the sprawling Wentworth Castle Estate, which is now operated by the National Trust. Originally it would have housed everything from animals to farm machinery and we’re delighted to be putting it to good use.

Electrical equipment is all on site, ready for 1st fix once the pointing has been completed.

Development Bike News:

Our development bikes have been spread around the country over the past few weeks – one has been over at Simtek having a production wiring harness fitted where Jay and the team have been burning the midnight oil to get the installation perfected and the drawings updated.

The bike with the custom ‘pig pee’ paint (as seen on Richard Hammond’s Workshop, Episode 6) has been used for colour tests for wheels (hence it has 1 black and 1 silver wheel fitted) but now it’s been shipped to our ECU supplier for some software tests and updates following our cold start work.

The 2 tone Black and Silver bike (one of our earliest bikes) is here at HQ being used for fit-checks for production part samples as well as cold starts.

Getting Ready to Launch:

As well as getting our HQ ready, we’ve been busy forming agreements with our supplier partners and this is a critical time for us. As a low volume specialist maker our bikes are built to last, so we choose who we work with very carefully.

Even though we’re just about to start supplying bikes to customers, our supply chain has been years in the making – we’ve built personal relationships with fantastic specialist UK suppliers and businesses who are passionate about quality, integrity and feel like they’re an intrinsic part of Mac.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing more details about some of the key people and businesses who help make Mac Motorcycles special – so watch out for this on our social media channels, but as a starter we’ll introduce Caged Laser Engineering, our partner who builds our frames:

Caged Laser’s Website

Our geometry and main hardpoints were set several years ago during our work with Lester Harris of Harris Performance, but from there we’ve produced 5 iterations to get to our current design made by Will Spirrell and his team at Caged.

Will has provided an amazing service to Mac over the years and now works with us on a day-to-day basis as he produces our first batch of production frames.

Caged work from their base in Radstock and produce specialist fabrications for a multitude of sectors, with a particular specialism in approved motorsport role cages – their knowledge of tubular fabrication and sheet metal work is extensive, which makes them a perfect fit for Mac.

We are a small, specialist UK business that’s passionate about UK manufacturing and having our frames made here gives us the exceptional quality we strive for, as well as giving us a close working relationship that would be very difficult to replicate elsewhere.

Test Riding and Specifying your Mac:

We all know it’s been a long time coming, but we’re massively excited to open our doors for test rides and bike specification in March – this will be by appointment and we’ll contact you in advance to arrange a suitable time to either come to HQ or discuss your spec over the Phone.

Once you’ve placed your order you’ll be given a copy of your spec sheet and purchase documentation, then we’ll keep you updated throughout the process until your bike is ready for collection or delivery.

The guide price for years of motorcycling joy with a Rex or Ruby will be £14,950 (inc VAT) – this includes for example Nitron rear shock, Brembo or Hel Front brakes, Stainless outriggers, single colour paint and a full stainless exhaust.

You can add or change individual items when we discuss your specification.

How to Follow Our Progress:

Keep an eye on our socials as we continue to share more videos of the bikes and of course some riding footage.

Our appearance in Episode 6 of Richard Hammond’s Workshop will be aired from 10th February on Quest if you’ve not seen it over on Discovery+

Thank you for your ongoing interest and support, we’re nearly there!

Safe riding

Cheers
